Welcome to Airway Management. Across two teaching days you will move from airway assessment and basic manoeuvres, through rapid sequence induction and laryngoscopy, to the difficult and failed airway — including scalpel cricothyroidotomy on a trainer. Every technique is practised at a station: two-person bag-mask ventilation, supraglottic airways, direct and video laryngoscopy with a bougie, capnography and the RSI checklist. Saturday afternoon runs four simulated scenarios, and Sunday morning is an OSCE. This weekend is expected to fall within Ramadan; breaks and finishing times will be adjusted and confirmed in the group.

What you will be able to do by the end

  • Predict the anatomically and physiologically difficult airway and plan for it
  • Perform two-person bag-valve-mask ventilation and place a supraglottic airway
  • Plan and lead a rapid sequence induction, including drug selection and dosing in shock
  • Intubate with direct and video laryngoscopy using a bougie, and confirm placement with waveform capnography
  • Work through the failed-airway algorithm and perform scalpel–bougie–tube front-of-neck access

Assessment and certificate

Certification requires attendance on all three days, a pass at each of the four OSCE stations on Sunday, and a written post-test score of at least 80%. The app marks the post-test instantly, so certificates are printed and presented at the close of the final day.
