Lesson 1: Paper speed and rate

  • At 25 mm/s, 1 small box is 40 ms, 1 large box 200 ms; 10 mm vertical is 1 mV.
  • Regular rhythm: 300 divided by large boxes between R waves, or 1500 divided by small boxes.
  • Irregular rhythm: count QRS complexes on a 10-second strip and multiply by 6.

About 40 seconds. Lesson 1 of 50.

ECG Masterclass

Read any ECG in the same fixed order, every time. Short video lessons of about 40 seconds take you from paper speed to the patterns that save lives, one step at a time, on your phone. Each lesson opens when you have finished the one before it.

By Dr Moiz Adamji, Head of ICU and Head of Quality Assurance & Training, LRRH. Made for doctors, clinical officers and nurses. Works on a phone, tablet or laptop.

By the end you will be able to

Read every ECG in the same fixed order, starting with rate, rhythm and axis.
Tell RBBB from LBBB by looking at V1 and the lateral leads.
Separate the AV blocks by inspecting the PR interval before and after the dropped beat.
Treat wide regular tachycardia as VT and use clues to raise or lower the probability.
Map ST elevation to a territory using contiguous leads and reciprocal change.
Recognise posterior MI and the de Winter pattern as occlusion patterns without classic ST elevation.
Recognise the ECG progression of severe hyperkalaemia.
Check the patient and the leads before accepting an apparent VF or VT on the monitor.

What you get

50 short video lessons

About 40 seconds each, built to be watched on a phone between patients. The videos play inside the app only.

One step at a time

Each lesson unlocks the next, so you build the skill in the right order instead of skipping to the hard ECGs.

Key points and a warning for every lesson

Three things to remember and the commonest trap, taken from the EMTUPO ECG teaching deck.

The teaching deck as reading notes

The EMTUPO ECG slide deck, view-only inside the app, with each lesson linking to its own slides, including the analogy slides.

An ECG practice lab

A live bedside monitor, a 12-lead reader, name-that-ECG drills and a rhythm builder to practise on.

Pre-test and post-test

See where you start and how far you come. Pass mark 75%, with explanations after every attempt.

A verifiable certificate

Download a certificate with your name and a QR code anyone can use to check it — it credits the course as a 2-day, 12 CPD-hour programme.

How it works

  1. Pre-test : 12 questions, taken once, so you can see how far you come.
  2. Lessons : Watch the 50 lessons in order. Your progress is saved to your account, so you can stop and carry on from any phone.
  3. Post-test : 15 questions drawn from a bank of 63. Pass mark 75%, up to 3 attempts, with explanations.
  4. Certificate : A certificate for the online course with your name and a QR code to verify it.

Questions

How do I get access?

As soon as your payment is confirmed you get an email with your access link. Sign in (or create a free account) with the same email address you paid with: access is tied to that email.

Can I download the videos?

No. The lessons are view-only and play inside the app for signed-in learners. Each video carries your email as a watermark.

Do I need internet all the time?

Yes, you need a connection to watch the videos and take the tests. The lessons are short, so they load quickly even on a weak signal.

My payment failed or I paid and it says it failed.

Your order page explains what happened and lets you try again. If money left your account, press "I paid, send proof" on the order page, or call or WhatsApp 0651911911.

Can I pay cash?

Yes. Choose "Pay cash", then pay Dr Moiz in person (call 0651911911). Once he confirms it, your access email is sent.

Is it an accredited qualification?

No. It is a self-directed teaching course. The certificate shows that you completed the course and passed the post-test.

Is the practice lab a medical device?

No. It is a teaching lab, not a diagnostic tool. Always read an ECG together with the patient.

A teaching resource. It does not replace your hospital's protocols, senior review or the ventilator manufacturer's instructions.
